Heidi & Christophe
We are Heidi & Christophe, both from Belgium.
We had dreamed of our own B&B for years and in 2018 we found our destination in Arnoia, a small hamlet of Celorico de Basto in northern Portugal, an hour from Porto.
We warmly welcome you to come and enjoy this special place, together with us and our treasures of animals, Maine Coon River and the Portuguese rascal Charlie.
The B&B has 4 cozy double rooms with private bathroom (shower or bath), sink and toilet. All rooms have box-spring beds, bed linen and towels. Pool towels and a hairdryer are provided. Our luxury room is equipped with a walk-in shower, air conditioning and chromecast TV.
We provide you with a luxurious breakfast, depending on the weather, served in the breakfast room or outside.
You can relax by the pool, the terrace or in the garden. We have a pool house where you can use the shower and toilet. There is also an honesty bar so you can relax at the pool with a drink. We also have a lounge with bar, library and private parking.
Do you like more privacy, both houses can be rented completely, check our adjusted prices.
Casa Pequena is a separate house that is ideal for 4 persons. Upstairs is a double bed, bathroom with shower, sink, toilet and pickled cupboard. Downstairs is a sofa bed (2 persons), kitchen with stove, dishwasher, microwave and refrigerator. In the summer you can eat outside on the terrace. Breakfast is not included in the house but can be requested.
Nearby you will find typical Portuguese restaurants, where you can eat delicious for a reasonable price.
We also offer an extensive dinner for 2 to 3 evenings.
A stay in Quinta do Farfalho is all about peace, luxury and comfort.
Because a photo says more than a thousand words, here you will find some atmospheric photos.
Within an hour or less you can visit beautiful cities such as Porto, Braga, Guimarães and Amarante. Prefer the coast? The authentic Vila do Conde with castle and cozy harbor and Pavoa de Varzim are both worth a visit. The Douro valley is also a day trip not to be missed!
For the hiking enthusiasts we have close to the natural park “Parque do Alvão” (oldest natural park in Portugal), this is a 35 minute drive and 8 km as the crow flies from the quinta. In the park you will find one of the longest waterfalls in Europe as well as the mountain cats, wolves and the endangered golden eagle.
In the northwest of Portugal, between the Alto Minho and Trás-os-Montes, is the unique protected area, which is recognized as “Parque Nacional da Peneda-Gerês”
The terrain is very mountainous and is crossed by large and small rivers that flow quickly and form waterfalls and then find their final destination in the reservoirs behind the dams Caniçada, Vilarinho das Furnas or Portela do Homem.
A day trip to this park is really an added value for the nature lover, you can choose from various walking routes.
Are you a cycling enthusiast? From Celorico de Basto you can take the Ecopista da Linha do Tâmega (beautiful cycling route on a former tram bed), which leads you to the historic town of Amarante, which is definitely worth a visit. Amarante is located on the river Tâmega. The main attractions are the church Igreja de S. Gonçalo and the Museu Amadeo de Sousa-Cardoso. You can rest on a terrace next to the river and taste the typical sweet treats.
Visit at least one of the oldest castles in Portugal Castelo Arnoia which you can see from our swimming pool (about 2 km) and do a part of the Rota Romanico, Senhora da Graça is also a must from where you have a very nice overview of the region and which very often is a finish in the Tour of Portugal.
Would you rather explore by car? The Rota do Românico takes you past Portuguese architectural heritage (of which the Castelo de Arnoia is part of our bird’s eye view at 500m), beautiful churches and monasteries lie along this route.
Do you want to combine this with a snack or drink? Then follow the Vinho Verde wine route. This is the typical unique wine type produced in this region, to be tasted on a lovely warm day.
A visit to a local winery is certainly possible.
You can rent a car carefree at Sunny Cars.
